Only thing that worries me is if we sack the cunt, we won't have a backroom staff (however shit they are is besides the point) anymore either. Where do we find all these people?

We were 2-0 down and swapping a defensive midfielder for an attacking one - the kind of substitution you should be making. If you want to pick him up for anything then ask why Petrov wasn't playing in the first place.

I agree but why was'nt Weiss also playing NDJ wins most 50/50 balls in midfield how many would Petrov win?.

Surely there are moves being made in the backroom, hughes complained last year that he didnt have the players, now that hes squandered the chequebook I cant honestly believe that the owners arent looking for a replacement. Id rather spend 10 million on a manager who would actually deliver consistency. I do not place the blame on the quality of the players I place the blame on a manager who doesnt know how to utilize them properly. Hiddink yes please, Mancini yes please, Mourinho yes please, even Ranieri, fuck it Id take Walter Smith at this point, they have all won something. Now I know that opens the door for the "lesser league" debate but in order to win you need consistency something we are sorely lacking. If we wait until January players will cost 3 times their value. The season is slipping away, its time for hughes to go, we were dismantled by Twitchy and will be by Taggart in January. Progress has not been made anyone hanging on to hopes that we will beat the rags is delusional. Hughes has continuously made the excuses of a loser; "we were unlucky" "the squad needs more time to gel" "I need more time" "we were not good enough tonight" Its all just lip service, I firmly believe that he has lost the dressing room. The change needs to happen by the New Year or we will be lucky to achieve Top 8, this game against spuds was a 6 pointer and we lost it in spectacular fashion. Hughes isnt going to resign, Khaldoon needs to address this, we are in disarray yet again I dont see hughes stringing together a few wins over Christmas

The hard facts at the moment are this is one win in 10 games and 11 points from those 10 games - that's almost relegation form isn't it?

To be honest, the squad hasn't looked right since Hughes (unwisely) got rid of Dunne and put Lescott in. At least before then the defence knew how to keep a clean sheet and I saw signs of Dunne and Toure forming a defensive partnership, and crucially knowing how not to concede goals.

Okay, granted, Dunne had his moments, but at least he was blue through and through and at least shouted at the defence a bit as captain. Does Toure do that? No.

Tactically, last night, the game was absolutely screaming for Vladimir Weiss to come on - a half time substitution would have been the right thing to do - chuck Gareth Barry at left back at the same time. And yet Hughes won't use him. Why? If it's "before his time" as some posters have suggested, then that's nothing but a lame excuse in my eyes. We all know Weiss has potential and has even proved it at International World Cup Qualifier level.

The decisions Hughes makes baffles me. Too many of the players he's signed have come for the money - it's so obvious. What happened to good old pride in the shirt eh? You'd never see the likes of previous City strikers like Rosler, Goater etc giving up so easily would you? Unless Hughes can fire them up properly and make them realise their potential rather than their former glories, then suffice to say we'll win sod all.

overpaid bigtime charlies, thats what we have at our club, the manager needs to show some balls and tell a few home truths. And for once just fuckin drop the cunts that dont want to know and shove them in the reserves for few weeks.

I was ashamed of City tonight. I think Adebayor was appalling. Sylvinho should not be playing premier league football. Hughes made mystifying chnages. Gutless and horrible. I want him sacked today. A quarter of a billion for 1 win in 10. Utter crap.

I think the owners have a long term plan which involves success both on and off the pitch. I think right now respectability off the pitch is more important than success on it. They do not want to be perceived as big time charlies who splash the cash and chop and change managers on a whim as that will leave them open to major critism.

For that reason there is no way they will get rid of Hughes before the summer, even if ot looks like we will finish 10th. Whether you like it or not Hughes is a respected manager in football circles (rightly or wrongly), if hes fired mid season it leaves question marks over the owners (rightly or wrongly). If we finish the season in 10th no-one will bat an eyelid if Hughes is fired.

From the owners point of view they want to be the best club in teh world in 5 years, is it such a big difference if it takes 6?

When Sven left we were 9th and in Europe.

18 months and £200m later we are 8th and not in Europe.

We are making progression, dont worry lads, keep the faith if we carry on at this rate we'll win the premier league in 2022!!

Interesting thoughts. I do agree that our owners are not going to jump just because of a few poor results and the fact that after a bad one last night all is not looking good in our quest for the Chumps league or indeed that 6th place that was mentioned when the season started.

As I said elsewhere I wasn't totally surprised last night happened and I didn't feel as bad after it as I did after the 3 bad home draws. Some things in the manner of last night's efforts were worrying and I will be fascinated to see how Hughes reacts. There is so much that he has done that I believe have been good for the club , both in the background , in the transfer market and in trying to instill the right attitude and work ethic in players and the team.

Even in the tactical aspects I don't think there is much of a problem. Everyone here knows better than him but the inconsistencies of opinion here are laughable at times in that area. We shouldnt have a holding midfielder , we should have 2 (like against Chelsea) we should play Robbie , we shouldnt play Robbie ,we should play SWP we should drop SWP and so it goes on.

Having said all that I have also said that he has yet to prove that he can actually do it at the top top level and take a team to win things. For me to do that he has to be stronger and braver.Players should not play unless they are playing well and fully fit and yet he still seems to play the names irrespective. When to goes wrong at clubs for a manager to get sacked it is ofetn because he looses the dressing room. Now I don't think he has but I wonder if the fans think that players keep getting picked but not performing then maybe some players will be thinking the same thing.

The prime candidate for me is Adebayor who at his best can be exceptional but too often doesnt seem up for it. I would rather have had Benni last night and that's saying something but when RSC is actually fit I believe that is when the squad fully should come into play and we should find out how Ade reacts to being on the bench.Petrov has been good pretty well every time he has played and yet doesnt get selected and Weiss , who I think is ready , can't even get a look in.

I still don't fall into Hughes out but he has to show his mettle and be stronger in his team selections.

But surely they don't want to be seen as backing failure either? Even they must have a tipping point where they say enough ius enough! And we know that they are aware of the need for speed in the early stages (get CL income to thwart UEFA) and that they did what was needed by bringing forward spending to last summer that was originally intended to be spread over the next couple of years. If they think that spending is not going to succeed with JLM in charge, will they not do what is needed again?
