Good management by Bernstein not to have any kneejerk reactions after Royle couldn't save us and indeed continued to have poor results even in the 3rd tier. Good old Joe turned it around and I would like to say a massive thank you to them both.

Thank God Franny stepped down too as his leadership of the club was piss poor, I remember he was supposed to have said he would jump off the kippax if we were relegated, however, he happened to leave his post before it was confirmed that we were down LOL

And John Wardle and David Makin. Who not only took a loss in selling the club, but continued to loan money to the club when Thaksin had his pennies frozen.

My two favourite chants are 'we never win at home' and 'invisible man' as they refer back to a period in our history and show we've still got a sense of humour. How many rags would celebrate being relegated at the point they're champions?

Invisible man definitely dates from that era, but I have a memory of 'We never win.... ' from the end of the seventies I think? Memory does play tricks now though!

I was at that game. Still remember it well. I had had my first proper night out as a 16 year old and spent the whole train journey down vomitting.

I also remember seeing Chris Kamara standing at the side of the pitch doing TV work. Long before his Sky Sports days. He had just been sacked by Bradford.

Missed my train back to Edinburgh as we were held back as a bunch of Leeds casauls had came to York for a scrap. Makes me smile just thinking about where they are now.

It may well be, but it always makes me smile - 5-0 up against Spurs etc and out comes 'We never win at home...'. I just can't imagine many other top 4 clubs singing it

This is part of our 'istree' (which we get told doesn't exist) & it's just as worthy of mention as any Champions League efforts by rags or scousers: the way the club & the fans pulled together from that day & dragged us out of the shit.

It's a fantastic story & something those superior cunts have never experienced, & if Utd or Liverpool are ever put in that position, after years of winning fuck all whilst their neighbours win everything, they will go out of fucking business.

It's something we should always remember & be proud of our efforts in turning it round.

Precisely Ted. You used to get "the Sheikh will get bored and then what?" (Although that seems to have stopped since the new training ground and expansion plan). Well so what if he leaves? Maybe we'll go back to being shit, but we've all been there and I'll still have seen us win something. Anything from here on is a bonus

Got the video review of this season. (I need to get it converted to DVD) One thing that really stands out about the first half of it is the fact that every game was a cup final. Someone would score and jump into the crowd, City would get involved in a 20 man brawl, City would have a player sent off, City score half the ground errupts, opposition come away with point and celebrate like they've won the cup.

The next week. Someone would score and jump into the crowd, City would get involved in a 20 man brawl, City would have a player sent off, City score half the ground errupts, opposition come away with point and celebrate like they've won the cup.

And repeat.

The second half of the season was kicked off with beating Stoke twice and battering Fulham at home in quick succession.

Its amazing to think of the youth graduates in that team. Weaver (sort of), Crooks, Edghill, Fenton, Mason, Brown, Jim & Jeff Whitley.

There are some players who've been largely forgotten from that season we were fundamental to that season Tiatto, Wiekens (i'll never forget Wiekens having Van Nistelrooy in his pocket in the derby) and Kevin Horlock. Should all have been honoured by the club. Especially as two are former players of the year.
