I think Pellegrini, who gets to tell defenders what their actual job is when given the ball, would disagree with that statement. He clearly wants them involved in build up play as often as possible.

A blind man would agree...in fact its obvious to anyone with half a brain that's what Pellers wants , hence Demi being in the line up every game.

That's fine if they actually do anything special but they don't. There is hardly any difference offensively but an enormous difference defensively.

Anyone who says we have struggled to produce fluent passing football with Lescott playing or that he hasn't made a decent contribution to it, is talking shit.

When ANY of our centre backs try to be clever, they stand a decent chance of giving the ball away. When they play it simple, they rarely give the ball away.

If Lescott had played today, chances are we woukd have kept a clean sheet & still scored 4.

Fair enought Ted. I don't know if I agree with you what the end score might have been but I agree that we're not seeing anything special yet, but! I think Kompany is definitely getting there.

Points safely secured in a game where we just ticked over in 2nd gear.

Dzeko very lively and Garcia excellent, whilst Silva and Navas both showed up well. Ya Ya was sporadically very good amidst periods of slumber. The concern was Demichelis and his habit of selling himself on the half way line with needless lunges. When you throw yourself in like that you need to take the ball, the man or both. He did none of them and left us exposed, which better teams might have punished us for.

Noone played well for them but that Utd sycophant arse wipe manager left with fucl all. We didn't need to be excellent today as you don't fire all your bullets at a stuffed dummy

You do realize that sonce November Lescott has hardly figured..yet we have scored a billion goals and conceded very few...you do know that dont you ???????????

Pellers has it spot on......hence the record , hence the 1 point from Arsenal , hence the incredible play we dish out week in and week out.

END OF.

Fuck Lescott and the whingers that harp on about him being in the side instead of A B or fuckign C.....we are where we are because of Pellegrinis management.

Spot on, carl.

Lescott would've this or that... pure conjecture. He's dropped his fair share of bollocks & Demichelis has put in some fantastic defensive work in other games. There's not much between them in my opinion.

Also, Lescott most likely earns double & is still not considerably better than our other options, which is why he's getting shifted.

We are where we are because of Pellegrini's management & on the whole we look better with Lescott next to Kompany.

Anyone who thinks Demichelis' performance today was acceptable, is a dick. And if Lescott ever played that badly, you wouldn't give a fuck about a couple of passes, you would want him dropping.

Demichelis has had one decent game defensively. Other than that he has been more of a danger to our goal than Luis Suarez was.

we don't defend set pieces well in general, i think, and pellegrini has commented on the need to do well there when discussing the blackburn match.

thing is joe's shot stopping can come in to help when it's a free kick, but i also agree, on corners we are even more vulnerable, and even more so when we have aguero rather than dzeko or negredo on.

Better in posession by about 5%. Most of the time he plays exactly the same passes Lescott does & most of the time he tries sonething extra, he loses the ball, but he's involved in a lot of the goals we concede.

Imo he's in the team because he knows the way Pellegrini wants to defend. Lescott isn't a purveyor of diving in or playing gambling offsides.

Pellegrini wants the cbs to try & nick the ball. Lescott just plays to stop them.

Delighted with another win today. We were in 2nd gear which is understandable after so many games. Garcia excellent today and great to see Aguero notch again. We are a lucky bunch to have a team/squad/set up like this.

Don't know why you bother arguing with him Ted, there isn't any point. His opinion was made up long ago, doesn't matter what Lescott (and now Hart) ever do, it will always be completely their fault.

That he could argue Boyata's stupid red card was Lescott's fault with a straight face tells you already what a clown he is. Pointless waste of time.

(And yes if it was me I'd start Lescott and Kompany as our first pairing)

For what its worth with Hart, I don't think you can blame the first on him, once Kompany had been skipped past he had the entire goal to shoot at. Not much he could really do there. The second he has a bit more culpability though. Still that last week "JOE IS BACK" and this week hes apparently the worst goalkeeper in the league ....... well thats just more idiocy.

First goal the player has the entire goal to shoot at. Perhaps could have stood closer to the post but in that situation when Kompany sells him short, it's a tricky one.

Second corner goes in low so Joe can't parry it and then Demi let's go of his man. What you could get at that point is a reaction save but if you don't get it you can't really fault him for it as the trajectory of the ball is so steep.

Worst keeper of the league, you're having a laugh.

Honestly you can't name 3 keepers having a poorer season than him. I bet the stats would show he has the poorest shots vs goals conceded ratio in the league.

We need a world-class centre-half and goalkeeper if we want to become a dominant team at home and abroad. The defender would be nice this January.
