Personally, only remember seeing reds if it was a second bookable offence, cant recall ever seeing a straight red.

But anyway, it was a second Yellow, but had a quick - and painful - search and off the OS match reports it says:
"City ended the game with 10 men when Bernardo Corradi was showed his second yellow card on 90 minutes for diving, after receiving his first on the hour for use of an arm."
