Empty Seats Last Night

Postby tc6828 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 6:24 pm

Guys (and gals) apologies for this thread if it has been mentioned elsewhere. I, and I'm sure thousands of others tried long and hard to get a ticket for this very special and defining game only to find all avenues closed (unless you could afford corporate money), so settled for TV viewing.

It was always on my mind and I commented at work only last week that I bet there will be empty seats, which would be a crying shame.

Anyway at kick off as the camera followed the action, I was looking at the stands to see what I thought were pockets of empty seats and thought, no, cannot be, must be people wearing blue and my eyes are not what they once were.

Anyway, close ups at throw ins did reveal empty seats indeed. I know a lot has been posted on here before about people nipping to the loos etc so thought little else of it. After all, I could do knob all about it.

Imagine my horror hearing the announcer stating that attendance was 46037. That is over 1000 less than watched Chelsea in the FA Cup, which I was in attendance at (and still saw empty seats)

What's all this about then. Why for love nor money can we not get tickets only to see and hear of over 1000 empty seats.

Anyone any ideas as I've been scratching my head all day.

why would it surprise you that some people have issues and can't attend an event? Or go get a beer. or have a piss. or a cheeky "fag in the bogs" as one legendary poster has done.

is this just a windup from you dear sir?

it happens to every football team at every match. Jog the fucl on.

cheers

There is a reduction in attendance for CL games as the first couple of rows are tarped off for advertising hoardings.

There was a huge section of the west stand upper for extended media and Barca didn't sell out their away end

Well said that man, there certainly were around 400 seats empty in the upper right section of Barca fans.

You'll also find that certain fans leave their seats and head off to stand with their mates. it gives an illusion of an empty seat when the reality is that he/she is just watching it somewhere else.

Bet they leave early though.

Right in the middle of the stand the camera points at on the 2nd tier they was a block that was all but empty. I could not figure out what that was all about.

Surely not UEFA official delegated seats? They surely wouldn't have gotten stuck in a titty bar somewhere on full no Q's asked expenses would they? Never!!

South Stand blocks and east stand 110 always stand so you get lots of crowding there where people leave their normal seats to get in on the atmospheric areas. I relocated to 111 for the Barca game and there was a lot of crowding 2/3 to a seat in some spaces.

There will never be a right answer to this as it seems day trippers got a ticket according to some, god knows how this can happen when real City fans are waiting for it to get to their allocation level to apply.

Every time I see city play at the emirates it costs me about 100 GBP. That's how. But I often know it might be one of my only chances to see them so I save up and pay the money. That's how. I buy from an arsenal season ticket holder who bought only to sell.

That would be my bet - all expenses paid trips given out by UEFA to certain parties they wanted to curry favour with. Who take the expenses and conveniently miss their flight.

Barca had somewhere between 500 to 1000 seats empty by my reconing. City were sold out weeks ago.

There you have it.
