FFS really?
I am pro justice for the 96 but I think its a stupid thing to do, mark the actual time.
When will the whole of football NOT be require to mark the anniversary? I have no qualms with liverpool marking however they want as they were impacted. However, I dont see why everyone else has to? In fact when it was the 50th Munich anniversary, Utd didnt request every team to play without names and in old fashioned shirts.

HOWEVER after all that, I think this will be a good thing for us as its a distraction from preparations, just like it was for the rags.

Excellent point WW! I'd have everyone snapping at Gerrards ankles and winding him up, with the emotion it wouldn't take much for him to make a rash challenge.

Typical Scousers. They are quick to forget their part in the Heisell stadium disaster though.

that doesn't make it right. I am all for the scousers doing what they can to get justice, I just dont want them to insist that everyone join their fight. I think the footballing community have backed them all the way, but when is it time to treat that day as a normal day for the rest of football?

I realise how horrific it was, I realise what a disgrace the whole cover up/police saga was, but now I am really starting to get sick to the back teeth of hearing about hillsborough. Don't get me wrong I think it is important to remember the 96, it is important to get justice for the 96, but I feel the amount of moaning that scousers do (Many not old enough to remember it) and with the media coverage in over-drive I think that the tragedy is being milked for sympathies sake like the Munich Air disaster was.

MVF died, we were all gutted, I understand that he was one and the numbers lost by Stretford and Liverpool were far in excess, but we mourned, those of us who watched him play and admired him greatly will always have a fond place in our hearts for him, but even last year when it was 10 years we didnt make an excessive performance, we just marked the occasion subtly, solemnly and respectfully and remembered his life rather than celebrated his passing.

I am with you WW, but I also know every 9/11 they ring church bells in New York City at the times both towers collapsed, and in DC something at the time the plane hit the Pentagon. Commemorating the exact time apparently is considered appropriate?

Just another excuse for the crowd to get up their own arses and for the ref to feel sorry for them and give them every decision. The way refs are with Liverpool at the minute this game will be barca all over again.

I said to the two scouse fans that this could play into our hands as has happened before with this kind of this - the distraction and emotion affects them.

As far as marking the tragedy, it doesn't bother me as long as its a one off to mark the families getting some justice (and hopefully more to come) and that its 25 years. Just have to remember that those who died left to watch a game of football like so many of us do and never came back. Just need to ignore the politics and the band wagon jumping and just respect their memories and the feeling of the families involved.

We are impeccable!

I have no issues with this whatsoever and on the 25th Anniversary it will be a poignant moment. What I don't get though is this 7 mins late business. Yes, the game finished at 15:06 (even though it should never have been started) but what has that got to do with games that are not only being played on different dates but at different times as well. And in reality, if the games have now been scheduled for 7 minutes later, they are no longer late, they are on time.

A stupid way to recognise the loss of so many lives and sounds to me that it's basis is founded in commercial enterprise. If anything they should have rescheduled our game to coincide with at least the time, but no, that couldn't happen, could it!

I'm glad others share my view, I was starting to feel a little guilty

Horrible tragedy, touched everyone's hearts. But now we seem to be in memorial every 6 months, more than in the first few years after the event. There's a time to draw a reasonable line, move on. Constantly raking up this grief cant help anyone involved.

I wonder who will be sponsoring it this time?

Also, I'm pretty sure those 6 minutes running up to the KO will be filled with 4 minutes of adverts and then when we pan to the players the first thing we'll see will be advertising.

It's all about the remembrance, I assure you.

If ours had been the 3pm kick off, I could understand moving it back to 15:07, to allow a minute's silence just before kick off.

But all they've now done is guaranteed that the game will be going on at the time that game stopped, albeit a couple of days before the anniversary.

Something at both semi finals and something at the Liverpool game would have been more appropriate and then allow the other games to do what they wanted.

For us, it's a day for the fans to be impeccable, again, and for the players to play the game not the occasion.

This. I reckon the idea has come from broadcasters (who have ultimate control over fixture timings), so they can play some tacky tribute, rather than from the Dippers, the FA, or the families of those who tragically lost their lives.
