Maybe the votes had to be cast a couple of weeks ago when it looked like dippers might actually win it. Perhaps these hacks who one suspects, mostly support the dippers, thought it would be fitting for Stevie to win it.
The stars were aligned. The justice for the 96. He's a local boy. One club man. England stalwart. He deserves it. Take your fuckin pick.
There is no way in the memory of man Gerrard has had a better season than Yaya. Every single pundit, either in print or on TV, raves about Yaya and week in week proclaim him the best midfielder not only in Prem but often Europe
I don't know, but do the football 'writers' always agree with the players now, or have there been exceptions in recent years.
We know most players have a sheep mentality when it comes to voting and wouldn't be too hot in analysis - at least during their playing days - but are the writers afraid to be seen to be telling the players: "you really don't have a clue, do you?"
To be fair, I had Suarez Player of the Year last year - bite or no bite - but even a blind man could see that Yaya's been the best -
and by a country mile - this season!
