Tbf, Boyata has more raw material for a cb than Nastasic.

For whatever reason, he just stopped progressing, But if the Count or Vieira think they can sort him out, it's worth having a go.

People talk about bringing Rekik back, yet he's half the pace & has half the jump on him compared to Boyata.

If we're supposed to presevere with young defenders, then it doesn't do any harm to try it with him.

I still think he has something to offer when played alongside an experienced centre half. Him and Demi in the domestic cups should see us just nicely with hopefully a new a grade centre half to form the first team with Vinny. Only issue with that of course is that there will be times we would end up with Boyata and nastasic as our only options with a run of injuries, and that doesn't bear thinking about

I don't know quite what went wrong with him. Whether it was Mancini's ridiculous decision to stick him in, out of his depth, v Arsenal & him getting sent off. Perhaps it ruined his confidence.

He was a top prospect, just not ready when Bob kept playing him at cb.

I ought to have said this comes from Citywatch twitter via a Belgian journalist but it seems very credible.

Incidentally does anyone think we'll put Vinny MDM Mangala/ Benatia AND Nastasic in a 21 strong CL squad. You have to wonder about Nastasic's future at the Club particularly if Mangala comes at 22.

Nastasic qualifies for the B list ( he's under21 by UEFA's definition and has been at the club two years ) for the Champions League.

Pleased for Dedryk, it's on the OS now. His playing style always reminds me of Nedum. One more for the homegrown quota anyway.

I recall his other game around that time when he played as wing back in the fa cup derby when Vinny got sent off. He was fucking excellent attacking and defending that day.

He was poor at Bolton though also I think, can't work out where it all went wrong either. I find it hard to see one bad experience destroying the lad for years

Don't you have to spend 3 years before your 21st birthday to qualify for home grown? I'm not sure if nasty can qualify. If Dedryck's put in as fourth centre back to the CL squad I can't see Nasty making it. Same goes for Garcia if fernando comes. We can only play 17 non home grown assuming a favourable agreement was reached with UEFA. Nasty Garcia and the Beast look vulnerable if they stay so maybe they'll be sold or loaned. Surprised we wouldn't go for a home grown number 2 keeper to be honest.

Yes you do have to spend 3 years before you're 21 to qualify as homegrown.

However under21s ( which Nasty is ) don't have to be named on the A list ( which is where the homegrown rule comes into effect ).

I didn't think Clatteburg had to send him off in that game. Only about 3 minutes in and questionable if the striker had the ball under control anyhow. In fact, I can rarely recall a time when I was angrier about a ref's decision.

It was a stupid decision, Chamakh had kicked the ball way too far ahead of himself so there was no clear goal scoring opportunity prevented.

Fifa Fair Play signing.

The most well paid mascot in football after Richard Wright.

Will never be good enough for the first XI but homegrown so gets a squad spot. He should send Platini and his chums a section of his wage as a thank you.

Good luck to Dedryck and all that, but if he wasn't homegrown he'd be arsing round the Belgian league by now.

Can I get this straight. Because Nasty is under 21 we get 17 foreign players plus Nasty plus only 3 home grown in our list of 21? Surely that's wrong?

Could never figure him out. Seemed to be ridiculously over promoted in his first season and ridiculously under used last year. So he could be great or shit as far as I know.

No mate, any player under21 doesn't have to be named in the 25 man senior squad ( 21 for us under the FFP sanction )unless they have been with the club less than two years.

Probably more than he could anywhere else as he's essentially being paid to sit on the bench and hardly play.

Lucky for him he had that homegrown leverage
