Ashley Young's missus...now she's rough.

I do wonder why Lescott wasn't offered this sort of thing though, playing for teams in the City brand? Rumours of him moving to Portland Timbers so why not NYCFC? Maybe he's just not as good a looking poster boy as David Villa!

Well he's not in the same class as a player that's for sure. Isn't it that you only get 3 star players in MLS and you wouldn't want one to be Lescott for world domination?

Why not?
clippo22 wrote:Not a shirt seller but would give a solid spine to the team. Lescott in defence, Lampard in midfield, David Villa up front. Build the rest of your team around that!

Alioune DVToure wrote: Precisely. He's a very good CB at PL level; he would be an outstanding CB at MLS level.

He's good at certain things. I'm not a huge follower of the MSL, but he will only be good if the football played is physical. If it is a technical league then he will struggle. BUT like I said, I don't know that much about the styles of football they play.

It's not a particularly physical league but nor is it a particularly high standard (I do follow it as my wife is American; I've even been to a few matches). I reckon the best sides would survive in the Championship, that the average level is League One play-off contention and that the poorest sides would struggle in League One. There are a lot of decent players but only 3-4 decent teams.
This isn't as bad as it sounds; I think lower-league footy in England has improved a lot over the last 15 years. I go and watch Rochdale sometimes and they play some lovely stuff. Plus the MLS is constantly improving. It's very enjoyable now, which wasn't the case a decade ago.

Which has been your team so far? Philly right? Will you switch with the creation of NYFC?

This issue is a cause of great tension in Chez DVToure. See eye-to-eye do not Philly and NYC sports teams. I think I'll have to be a crypto-Yankee, whilst outwardly supporting the Union alone.

OK, is this the same thing even with the less prominent new york teams like for example the Mets or the Islanders? Are all NY-based teams disliked or just the big ones?
