I'll qualify this by saying that Rooney is one of the strongest opponents I've seen City face in the Prem (not always).
Hoddle was looking at the formations & saying how Rooney should drop deeper, thus outnumbering their midfield/launching attacks.
I just thought about a typical Prem game, you could imagine Gary N**ille on commentary, with a hint of panic in his voice, saying "they've got to stop Silva getting in these holes, he's running the game, they're just asking for trouble.." etc.
So basically, if Silva played for England instead of Rooney, the team's football intelligence would go up 100%.
I noticed Barkley tried to do exactly that as soon as he came on & was great at it, until they all started playing cuntball, doing their own thing & stopped passing to him in there.
Also Sturridge: that's not a one off performance, that's what he is & what he does. For every curler into the top corner, there is a missed sitter, a dive, or a piece of greed. That's why he wouldn't get in our team.
I wouldn't call Edin a diver but the rest of this statement is true of him and he does get in our team. For the record I'm glad Edin plays for City.
