I've not seen a decent defence at the world cup so far, the issue was that we're just not clinical. We had the chances to win tonight and to beat Italy. We didn't take them.
they had more than that. Even Joe had to drag a corner off the line.
I suppose but hard to call a shot from a corner a 'chance'.
We dominated large parts of the match and had the chances to win that. Once we equalised we had all the momentum and should have won it really. Instead Gerrard lets us down.
Uruguay's defence was equally bad but like Italy they just had that extra little bit of quality in the final third.
It's a shame, far worse England sides have made it out the group stages.
You didn't say "chance", you said "shots on target".
Gerrard has been a shadow of what he was for three or four seasons. Time to put him to sleep.
Don't think they counted them as shots on target though tbh. Not seen a replay but I think they were going parallel with the goal line rather than in. Could well be wrong though. Will watch the highlights when i'm slightly less depressed about the result.
Fact is we dominated tonight and should have won but we were poor in the final third whereas Uruguay were clinical.
Gerrard as you say was awful. Rooney played great and responded to the criticism, always wanted the ball and looked up for it. Gerrard undid all our hard work.
Shocking performance from the 'captain.'
