No surprises then, we get exactly the same draw as last year less Plzen, who aren't in it this year, for Roma, who wasn't in it last year.

It's not even worth watching as once the 1st draws come out there's no real luck involved. With the intra-country rules, the televised rules and the fact that there's seeds in the 1st place, you could realistically tell who is going to face who in each group. Bayern can't have another German club in their group so that gets rid of Schalke and BVB. City can't also have Chelsea or Arsenal in their group so that combined makes it difficult to draw anybody other. Then there's the match scheduling where teams of the same country can't play on the same time, one home, one away, thus declining the odds of a draw and making it meaningless.

They may as well just put the 4 teams together and draw for which group you're in rather than spend countless hours making it look as if it's not actually fixed.

I remember when we got Real and Ajax in our group and hearing that Ajax had drawn Real in their last 3 group stages. I thought at the time 'Unlucky Buggers' but it soon became clear that luck had nothing to do with it.

These are the Big Boys Rules' and we just have to play by them.

Basically teams from the same country arent allowed in the same groups but also the english teams are split into two halves of the draw, 2 teams in the first half 2 in the second so that they play on alternate days. its all to do with tv rights.

But Liverpool were drawn after us so why couldn't we have could have gone into either side of the draw? There was Arsenal in the red half and Chelsea in the blue half.

That sounds right but when we were drawn the only English teams drawn were Arsenal in the red half and Chelsea in the blue half so we could have played in either half. See no reason we couldn't play either of the Madrid teams or Bayer

Tough draw for us but our squad is stronger than Roma and Moscow. If we play to our strength we get through and then who knows. Typically lucky for scouse.

Apparently, Schalke and Dortmund were yet to be drawn and therefore couldn't go in our group.

Other groups were available for them, weren't they? We were third (or was it fourth?) team out.

Because out of the 4 English teams in the Champions League, they have the biggest fan base.

It's not fucking rocket science.

As a media company, Sky want the biggest audience so that's the reason. We may not like it or agree with it, but that's the reason.

But regarding the draw itself, it's not straightforward but we are more than capable of winning that group. We have a fantastic squad now and considering that we've started the season so well without even getting out of second gear in our first 2 matches suggests that we have great season ahead of us.

This competition would be great if they got rid of:

1. Seeding
2. Group games (for straight two-leg knock out)
3. That pretentious music
4. The rule that says we all have to move our seats for UEFA groupies at home games
5. The word League when it's not

I seem to remember a competition like that on the old days.....

No problem, some soldiers will volunteer to give up their leave to invade the other countries to help them out.
