I thought about it as well even before Dzeko broke down. But do you think Mourinho would let us have him? He might prefer to send him back to Liverpool, which tbf would be pretty hilarious.

I doubt the club are thinking like that. Negredo leaves us one short anyway. We didn't replace him which was a gamble and it's in danger of blowing up in our face. If we buy Bony or Benteke it doesn't necessarily mean denying this Nigerian kid a chance. I wouldn't be the least surprised if we ended up selling Jovetic because of his awful injury record. He's definitely in demand. It would be sad but understandable. Also Pellegrini likes playing two up top. At the end of the day what you want may not be what the Club wants. Same for all of us. In my view they are definitely looking for a new striker next month and indeed Pellegrini pretty well confirmed that. They won't buy one unless it makes sense medium term so they may not buy one at the end of the day. Heaven knows who it might be; a proven PL striker makes sense which is why the likes of Bony are mentioned but it could be a foreign player for all I know.

Why not other names. I am really curious why do people like them so much.
For me:
Benteke: sicknote, came back after a long time out. We have no insurance it won't happen again.
Bony: if we listen to the news, he refused to leave Swansea, because we was guaranted a starting place there. Do we really need a player like this? A player that won't work to stay in the first team? When Big Ed and Sergio will be fit, Bony would be our third choice. I don't deny his class, he is good, but imho, a problematic player.

But he just feels a tad flavour of the month and i can't see him getting much better than he already is and i think with our forwards we should be aiming higher than 'good to very good'. Negredo at his peak was better imo.
