I too, am a great admirer of this boy; he certainly likes to 'attack' the goal, but not in the way Sergio, Edin or even Alvaro
did! I've always believed that if he could remain injury free and build up
match fitness his underlying, natural ability, would
shine through?
Notwithstanding this, I am beginning to wonder whether he is actually another version of Samir i.e. an offensive midfielder? The last couple of games, in particular, (and without an orthodox striker to play with) he seems to start off/want the ball from similar positions to Samir. Whereas I thought he'd play in a more advanced role, in front of Samir and David i.e. where James Milner has been playing?
He drives from outside the box (usually the corner) and looks to play one-twos with either Samir or David.
Should we be seeing/playing him as a midfielder? I have a vague recollection that on his arrival at the club, there was comment/suggestion that he played midfield at his previous clubs? Can anyone confirm this suggestion?
Interestingly, MP has confirmed today that we wont be
partaking in the forthcoming transfer window, due to the restrictions imposed by UEFA apropos FFP regulations! So that's kiboshes any chances we might have been considering vis-à-vis strengthening our attacking line up, mid season! Thus talk of Bony et al was premature, unless we're already planning for the 15/16 season?
