Love his interviews. Not going to compromise on the first team were his closing words in part 1. I can't wait for part 2.

Although I would like to have seen some signs that more EDS players are closer to the first team he does make me feel they have it all under control and know exactly what they are doing. Fancy choosing the right back position to demonstrate we have identifiable talent at all different age groups to make it to the first team.

It was good to hear of the disappointment felt but he puts it forward in such a positive confident manner looking to the future that he makes me feel the same.

We are in good hands.

I am not sure I like that last line, I guess it could be taken two ways. However we've seen already that the policy seems to be in place that the established 1st team players are always going to play if they've available over the youngsters, no matter the value of the game.

I'd rather have us take a dip today while we blood these youngsters in the hope that it improves us for the next decade. If we're not willing to take that risk, then what the fuck is the point of the academy?

I think he means that we are not going to field a 'weakened' team, not that we won't play any kids. They have to be good enough.

We don't want to compromise the first team by throwing kids in, we want to strengthen the squad. I think the key point was what he said about how he's sat with Marwood & identified a succession of players in various positions, & even identified positions where we are weak in the academy in that respect, which means we will make further signings for the academy to solve it.

For the chairman to be looking so closely at the academy is proof he is serious about bringing kids through imo. But they have to merit it.

He is also I think talking about the difference between kids we've brought in, & kids who came through from a young age. Most of the best kids coming through right now, have been imported from elsewhere.

That's kind of my point. Kids don't come off a production line as prepackaged world class players. There is a process and that might involve weakening the team in the short term for a long term gain.

I don't think the two things have to be linked though, is what I mean. We have operated a squad system since the takeover, & I don't think the best of these kids, right now before they have even kicked a ball in the first team, are lesser players than many of the signings we have made to fill the squad during that period.

So wheras maybe the strongest 11 wouldn't have kids in it, the 2nd 11 from the squad could soon contain several who are there because they merit it, as opposed to just being thrown in because they are kids. From that position I would expect one or two will become serious first 11 challengers over the next couple of years, whilst others then join the squad as 'fill in' players.

I don't think we'll be signing many more Sagnas, Garcias or Sinclairs in the coming years & one day we may not even need to sign Kolarovs, Dzekos Balotellis etc, because their positions may all eventually be taken by academy kids.

I can see how to spin that last line from Khaldoon in a positive way like Ted has, but it was an unnecessary comment IMO. I heard it and immediately thought it was a negative comment that the kids wouldn't be given a chance unless they are the next Messi.

"we will continue to support and develop them, but we will not compromise the first team". How many kids are going to be a better proposition than our best 11?

I suppose we will have to wait and see

Or possibly the thought is that the kids we have are not first team quality, even though many on here think they are. I would like to think that Ted is closer to the truth

I get the positive spin too, and I hope it's that, but I don't think he worded it well at all. Came across as unnecessarily negative.

That's called the Pablo Maffeo effect. He does that to people ;)

Also, isn't Colin Rosler for the u15s a right-back? Ha.

I think Rosler was a midfield player if I remember right from that under 15's tournament we won. Looked good as well.

I liked his calm confidence about FFP. We are profitable now so basically it's an irrelevance. 350 million of turnover and climbing sharply.

Hart's staying then. We have to learn to live with it :)

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Rosler played right back last time I saw him.

I recon some of you are completely misreading Khaldoon's last comment.

He had just been answering a load of questions on transfers & knows there are loads of City fans hanging on his words regarding that (far more than give a shit about the academy) & is just reassuring them that City will be reinforcing the first team & not relying on kids to do it.

I read it as shot across the bows of anyone wanting to attempt to be using FFP as an excuse ! which was the part line of the Mnager an Vinnylast season. Top work.

I think it's a balanced comment which hints at a change to the composition of the squad.

We could perhaps see 5 players move on, to be replaced by 3 word class signings thus altering the squad composition slightly to give the younger players a chance to be part of the first team squad.

This approach improves the first team, and gives the younger players an opportunity from the bench or in league cup games until such time they deserved their place on merit.

Khaldoon is a leader isn't he? I'd fucking love to work for him. He appears like he'd get the balance perfect.

I wonder if he reference his hat-trick from that charity game ever? I would. Especially if Jovetic came moaning about his contract.

Absolutely.

I think he's very deep and single minded, but charming with it.

Khaldon had no choice as he is the only English player left.

Harts only achievement is that he didn't drop as many clangers as last season.

What should encourage our youngsters is how well informed Khaldoun is about them. He is clearly excited about the future prospects of some of them even if the present will not be sacrificed out of sentimentality.
