Boyata's Debut - Thoughts?

The co-commentator was that prick Jason Cundy, he feckin hates us and was slagging the poor lad off after just 3 minutes. What a cock! Boyata started off looking a little nervous but he made an excellant tackle in our box and grew in confidence from there and ended up having a very good game. Looks very very promising.

Strachan was screaming in the first half for them to try and hassle him. They were targeting Boyata big time. It was a nervous time but he got away with it and grew in confidence as the game went on. By the last few minutes he was looking comfortable and treading through balls.

Chinners bollocks claims Ned and Micah could push to be fit?

Thing is, who makes u more nervous; a Ned lacking match practice or 17/18 year old Boyata?

Ah, ideal for a north-on-north match! A London through-and-through man. I knew I recognised the voice.

If SCUM play like they did today Boyata, Ned or Micah should all be fine!

Always good to see youth coming through. I thought he had a good game. Won everything and good distribution. He could be a future player.

Watching him in reserves and training and now first team he comes across as a shy unassuming lad and now having seen his interview on the OS it just confirms it. Great interview.

I don't really think he is ready for the semi next week especially as it will be Shrek and bflop. Not that he would let us down but it's the lack of experience and physical strength that might just get found out.

However I dont know who they were watchin cos he had a decent game from what I saw and should definately get another chance.
He did quite well for me.

I got the impression that they were maybe watching the same stream as Lee as they kept misidentifying him, he made maybe two mistakes all game and looked very assured on the ball. Another quality academy product and he has the opportunity because he isn't out on loan like the more well known youngsters of making a big impression on the new manager. IMHO he took that opportunity with both hands yesterday

He did that well, I gave him MotM over Vince and Petters. Had a cracking game and if he can produce that form when asked of him, we won't need the big signings, just a better contract.

He played very well and give credit to the gaffer for giving him the ideal opposition to make his debut.

It was ridiculous. He even did a beautiful step-round a forward with the ball and the idiot said 'Boyata looking shaky again'.

Mind you they were also determined 'City could be in trouble', like they are with any Premier teams who haven't scored in the first 15 minutes. Thought the first half commentary was some of the worst I'd heard. Was it ESPN feed?

Boyata was bloddy good for me, for a first run-out. Even though he had no opposition of course.

No mate, its Lou Macari on Setanta. That's four fucking matches I've had to listen to a rag that works for MUTV slating us for 90 mins a piece. Its a fucking joke and I hope Setanta go under for having the audactiy to sanction such a farce.

Boyata did reasonably well but it was such a shitty match I can't say anyone was fantastic.

That sounds very like the stream I was watching that had Jason Cundy as co-commentator

Can only agree with the above points about Boyata and Cundy performing as expert (?!!) summariser. When I initially saw that Boyata was playing I was slightly concerned as I could recall his slightly shaky performance in the second leg of the victorious F.A. Youth Cup Final against Chelsea. However he stood up to the task yesterday and started off the game steadily and improved as the match went on. The biggest testament to his performance is that I felt quite comfortable when Borer attacked as you just knew that they were nver going to score in a month of sundays.

To the second point, Cundy; What a wanker!! As I said in the Match day topic I could not believe the shit that was spouting forth from this oxygen thief. It was only towards the end of the match that we were getting any grudging remarks of respect and if I had the option to turn off the commentary and just leave the crowd noise on I most certainly would have done. Hopefully will not have to listen to this sort of bollocks for a long time.

Thought he grew into having a good debut, and it was an ideal game for him to come in. I don't think he should have his second game on Wednesday though. Bacon-chops will definitely field a strong team...

Can I just ask how he started off steadily? I watched the full match on a very decent stream (not in flesh of course) and didn't see him do anything wrong. Yes, he looked a little nervous as anyone would (remember your first debut) but he didn't actually put a foot wrong to my recollection. In fact, I'd go as far to say that he bossed the back four, making Micah and then Vinnie, feel at home.

Just watched the interview, chuckled at his accent. It's like French with Manc twangs.
Speaks brilliant English for a kid who's only been here 2-3 years.....maybe he should give Tevez some lessons?

Sorry mate I only watched it on a stream myself and I only meant that he started off steadily in the fact that he didn't make any errors that I can recall and did indeed gain in confidence such as sidestepping the Borer forward in the incident which Cundy said he looked a bit dodgy. A very promising debut in my opinion and I didn't mean it to sound negative in any way.

HE GAVE THE BALL AWAY (CARLESSLY)TWICE WHICH IN THE PREM MIGHT HAVE COSTS US DEARLY.

APART FROM THAT HE WAS FINE - WOULDNT LIKE TO HAVE HIM AGAINST THE SCUM THOUGH..IT,S ANOTHER LEVEL AND HE,S NOT UP TO IT JUST YET........METHINKS !

Agreed: the only problem is, we're not exactly spoilt for choice
Although Richards did ok until his injury, he's still very much 'on probation', these days!

On TV I could very clearly hear Strachan shouting at his players to go after Boyata and put him, especially, under pressure in possession. They spotted the weakness and nervousness. A lot of people did. In the end he got through it and got more comfortable. But he definitely wasn't comfortable at the start. Part of that was because he was under extra pressure, but part was down to himself.

He looked OK. To give him player of the match as many have is completely over the top. He has all the attributes. He just needs to show that he's comfortable on the ball, which as Çundy accurately suggested, he wasn't. He warmed into it in the second half though and showed that he is up to it.

A loan move when we get more players on deck would be good for him.
