His first season was how he wants us to play. Problem is we have struggled with injuries to so many key players I suspect he feels frustrated they are rarely fit to see how his style can work because it is clearly contingent upon having high quality players at every position.

We were poor at this point last season as he refused to play an extra body in midfield. He finally relented as we were slipping out of the top four. Fat Frank was brought in for the last 6 games and guess what? We won them all. I have seen Mangala play for Porto and he was nothing short of hapless. He wasn't always in the first team there. Willy was always erratic at Malaga. It's hard to imagine with the squad we had a couple of years ago, and the investment made since, that we could have regressed so far. I can't wait for him to fuck off. He's a nice man, dignified and considered. He has been unlucky with injuries but he is not the sharpest tool in the box. Willy's selection tomorrow is beyond negligence.
We really should be winning it with something to spare.

But why should we be winning it? We should stand a good chance of winning it yes, but why should we win it? I don't get that.

When did you see Mangala at Porto? He was always a regular and was voted in the Europa League team of the year the season before signing for us, he also captained Porto while he was there.
To suggest that a manager that brought Villareal to a CL semi final is amateur is utter nonsense.

Mangala was at Porto for 3 years and only started 50 games in all comps. They weren't convinced. as he was on the bench around 40 times. I watched him at Estoril and Sevilla. The game with Sevilla (2nd leg I think) was really disturbing. His final season at Porto was very inconsistent.

He started 41 in his last season alone with Porto so I don't know where you're getting your figures from.
The game with Sevilla you're talking about saw him as the only regular of the back four playing as the rest were suspended or injured, Fernando was also suspended in that one. It was inevitable they would get a hiding.

Big Willy I suspect was largely pellegrini's signing and to be fair is a poor one. Not sure why we needed to let pantillimon go. But even that signing would have had to be sanctioned by the barca boys.
