Sterling got us two goals after apparently doing 'nothing all game'. Similar to KDB then.

Yaya and Nolito in support not much better. No width, no one making any runs into the box, either near or far post. It's just too easy for Hull at the moment.

Someone needs to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and assert their authority. It's a scenario made for Yaya

Yaya was Skys MotM. Stepped up in the end. A resurgent Yaya could make our season

1 goal now in 3, makes a change from 7 in the previous 2.

Almost like a change in formation helped.

Well, that's three most welcome wins in succession, which might just be the start of us going on a decent run of form.

Earlier this afternoon, on the wireless, the broadcasters were shamelessly purring over the Scum now having won five on the trot and the way that Mourinho has now 'sorted' everything. Under these circumstances, our mini run of form doesn't look too shoddy by comparison, particularly as we're still six points in front of them and our goal difference is now 19, as opposed to 9 of theirs - and we're still 'sorting' ourselves out, whilst they are, allegedly, now the finished product.

Before today's game, Notts Blue and myself, in our usual pre-match bouts of trepidation, both agreed we just needed the win in whatever way it was achieved so, on that basis, things turned out alright in the end.

It's still early days yet in our renaissance, but bring on the Dippers and let's see what they've got to offer.

To he honest the scoreline flattered us a bit, we weren't great by any strech, no threat up front.

I'm quite partial to a bit of scoreline flattery when it's in our favour, but you're absolutely right; it wasn't a 0-3 game. Still, the clean sheet was most welcome in view of our recent problems in defence and the enforced change today.

Perhaps though, when sides are parking the bus against us, we've just got to be patient and when tiredness starts to set in and the game opens up in the last 15-20 minutes, after all the covering the opposition has had to do, we then take our chances late on.

It doesn't make for great games, but maybe that's how it has to be in those instances.

Somehow even when Kev is shite like 96mins in a game he always produces one very good scoring opportunity for someone.

Yes he was fantastic again when he was coming out for the cross. Only to realise he should've actually maybe the move three seconds earlier. Which he realised tbf. But shame he was again three seconds too late.
Thank fuck for Sagna or this forum would've been again in a meltdown due to yet another amateur mistake from our "number one". He got away with one today

Ha ha! Point taken. I think he's a fantastic goal scorer, particularly considering hos age. But he's not (yet) a fantastic footballer, so I do I understand why Pep doesn't start him.

He's a puppy, a work in progress, and we shouldn't treat him as anything else.

And as I've said to you before, he doesn't have that aura of effortless about him this season which he did last season. It's a shame and probably (at least partly) caused by a lack of belief in him from the manager.

I totally agree that he is a puppy. I don't agree that he is in any way hampered by Pep coming in though. A lot of young players go through a purple patch when they break through and seem to just burst of confidence, not realising how difficult football really can be. Next season, after a game or two where things don't go their way, they go into a dip. It's happened to countless of new Messis and Ronaldos at the swamp. How you get through that slump is the main thing - and I think Ian is handling it well. I also think he's being well handled by City, by not being forced to lead the line at such a crucial time of the season.

And with all that said, I would also like to add that trying to fit him into Aguero's role is trying to fit a Square peg into a round hole. Ian lacks Kun's first touch and technique. Imo he's predominantly a fox in the box.

That's it. And even without developing he will score loads of goals in his career but I think right now we need someone who offers a bit more.
Whether Ian can develop himself enough or if we will adjust our style of play remains to be seen but as long as Pep is here I can't see us "sacrificing" midfielder to play Nachoman up with another

Absolute dog shit first half . Bringing on a forward second half made all the difference for me against a truly shite Hull team who are rightly bottom of the league . This time next week we will have Aguero , Jesus and Nacho to choose from upfront so some real firepower at last . Good result in the end now lets step it up and get a result at Anfield !
