What are peoples thoughts on football violence these days?
Is it worse than what it use to be and is there to much riding on football matches nowadays for the sake of bragging rights and when things like this happen!
Although i would love the bragging rights that come with the thought of beating U***d and going to wembley.
shooting someone in the chest with a shotgun after a slanging match sound like total cowardice.
As for football violence these days, it seems like the passive majority have gone back to being just that.
in the late sevs and early ayties even Rochdale had a crew. Trouble with that era though was that every tom dick and harry thought it was good and emulated the real crews.. soon we had slashings every fuclin weekend, often 3 or more.
sick
some reports i heard were lads being held down and slashed
bravo!
then it gets that any old fan will do as a target to slash.. waliking alone.. home after a match
what a fuclin nob leader you must be to get your mates to help you out with that one.
That i presume is all in the past now in football.
back in that day a night out in a club in leeds sheffield or the pool ran a lot of risks because the silent majority thought it was the norm to challenge anyone from out of town.
Rave culture got rid of that for a new generation of the yoof and football seemed to sort its act out at the same time.
Anyone know of a history of violence in english football? let alone a history of violence between reds and blues in m/c ?
my old man's old man related that reds and blues used to be all mixed up and go see the match that weekend whoevr was playing at home.
Seems totally alien to my generation but knowing my grandfather i rekon there must have been a fair old bit of banter flying round... but given that they would all be with their mates i rekon they all had a good laugh.
i cant imagine that the rivalry would have been any less, perhaps they had mass brawls in those days to relieve the tension-- john68 you are supposed to be the living proof on these matters.. what do you remebmer about the violence in the 20's ?
